What is
Independence From Hunger?

Here at your Fillmore Grocery Outlet, we're kicking off our Twelfth Annual 'Independence from Hunger® Food Drive’ Campaign by partnering with Saint Vincent de Paul Food Bank & One Step A La Vez and Community Members to tackle food insecurity in our community!

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market, the extreme-value grocery retailer, today launched its 12th Annual Independence from Hunger® Food Drive, to combat food insecurity and support families in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities throughout America. From June 29 to July 31, 2022, Fillmore Grocery Outlet is teaming up with Saint Vincent de Paul Food Bank & One Step A La Vez, to collect food and cash donations in-store and online.

Families and children in vulnerable and disadvantaged communities throughout the US are at continued risk of experiencing food insecurity, lacking the basic nutrients necessary for the development of an active, healthy life. With inflation on the rise and supply chain backlogs, more families have been turning to food banks. In 2022, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has estimated that as many as 30 million adults and 12 million children are living in food-insecure households.

Customers can make a difference by visiting Fillmore Grocery Outlet and participating in one of these easy steps:

  •  Donate at check out. Tell your cashier you want to make a cash donation at the register. Donations will go directly to that store’s local food agency partner. Donate $1, $5 or round up your change.

  •   Give $5, get $5. Donate $5 or more in a single transaction in-store or online and you will receive a coupon for $5 off a future purchase of $25 or more.

  •   Pick up a pre-made bag that is filled with an assortment of groceries selected by the local food agency and then place it in a collection bin at the front of the store.

  • Donate right here at GOFillmore.com

For 76 years, Grocery Outlet has been committed to giving back to local community organizations and IFH is an integral part of our commitment. “Since 1946, our core values have been built around our desire to both provide and give back to our local communities,” said Grocery Outlet CEO Eric Lindberg “Our customers and communities alike are the foundation of our success. We feel it’s important to continue supporting these communities in every way possible, especially in their time of greatest need.”

The Fillmore Grocery Outlet store is independently owned and operated by Javier Vizarreta & James Danforth who are committed to giving back to the local community. This year, the national campaign will span over 400 locations and build on Grocery Outlet's past Independence from Hunger efforts that have raised nearly 14 million dollars to date, across America.

We sincerely thank you for your helping combat food insecurity in our community, we look forward to contributing to another amazing year for Independence from Hunger.

Let's uplift our community together!

Sincerely,

James Danforth, Javier Vizarreta
